2008 Mk1 Golf GTI

This limited edition Volkswagen Citi Golf R-Line is built in South African and is essentially a five door Mk1 Golf body with bolt on accessories to make it more up to date. With a 1.8-litre, 121bhp engine this Citi Golf R-Line will hit 62mph in around 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 115mph – very similar to the performance of a UK spec 1.8 litre Mk1 GTI.

The interior features a solid dashboard lifted from the Skoda Fabia, and comes complete with a MP3/CD player as standard. There is no power steering and air-conditioning is a cost option. The car retains the red edging around the front grille, twin headlights and evocative golf ball gear knob which was one of the Mk1 Golf GTI trademarks.

The Citi Golf is built by Volkswagen as a low-cost supermini, using a production line shipped from VW's plant in Pennsylvania, USA.
